Emissions Pass for Munich when renting a car in Strasbourg

Hi,

This September we are spending one night in Munich. The Green Emission zone here is very large. It even has majority of the car parks included around the city. We are renting the car on the boarder in Strasbourg. How do we get an emissions pass when renting in France, or not knowing the plate number prior? We are only staying in Germany one day.
Thank yo!

Where are you going after Oktoberfest? If you are returning to France, why not just take the train Friday night and return Saturday evening on the train. A lot less hassle. It is a 3 1/2 hour train trip each way.

We are going for One night to Oktoberfest, but prior going to Salzburg and a couple other small towns, so we willhave the car no matter what:( Then we are headed back to France. So it will be an in and out trip, but the only way we can do it since it is on the way!

Look at hotels to the west of Heimeranplatz, which is outside the green zone and only 2 stops on the U-Bahn from the Oktoberfest grounds. There is an Ibis Munich City West there, but rooms may be in short supply for that day, and very expensive if available.

You can obtain the Green environmental badge from any vehicle inspection center such as Dekra, GTÜ, KÜS or TÜV. Google for locations and opening hours along your route and choose the most convenient one. Have the documents proving the pollutant emissions ready or ask the car rental company for confirmation.
