email with Rothenburg

As I plan our trip, I've found that hotels in Munich respond to my emails but hotels in Rothenburg do not. Am I doing something wrong? I've used their address off the website and Ricik's book, and I've contacted them directly from their website. Nothing returns?

I would surmise that they are all sitting on the beach in Thailand right about now.

In Bavaria Jan 6th was a holiday. Do not know when you asked but that could be one reason.

Just repeat request.

Just a thought - have you checked your junk mail? Mine will stop anything from a foreign address I don't catch it, and I had that hotel-email frustration before.

You could take the easy way out and go through a booking site like Booking.com. You will have a reservation and if something better turns up in the mean time you can cancel it.

We've found that a phone call doesn't cost all that much in the overall scheme of things. That way you are talking directly with the hotel and should be able to get correct information about vacancies, rates, etc. Just remember to account for the time difference.

I experienced the same issue a few years ago trying to make reservations this time of year on the Rhine. Places were just shut for vacation as Sam alluded. There was no one to answer the emails.

I notice this November that several places in Rothenburg were closed until the Christmas Market Season. I bet several are closed after. I would wait a bit and try again.

You might not find some small places are open to booking through Booking.com or HRS.com. Rothenburg is one of the few places that I do not prefer HRS.com over direct contact. Gasthof Greifen (my favorite) was not on HRS.com when I made my reservations for November.

I had no problems with hotel communications in the fall, so I'm also betting it's a seasonal vacation.
PS
Rothenburg during the xmas markets was wonderful!
Safe travels!

When we did our planning for Rothenburg, I emailed the Hotel Spitzweg with no issues. The owner/host was amazing and we had the best stay there! I also emailed two restaurants for reservations and had no issue with those either. One was Zur Holl, which I highly recommend!
