We are to take a river cruise on the Elbe as part of a tour. We have heard that the water level on the Elbe can be a problem (a cruise turns into a bus trip...). We are going in mid-May and are hoping that spring water levels are more reliable. Does anyone know how to check on water levels? The only sites I've found are in German which I don't speak. Thanks for any info.
Hi,
How far up the river does the tour go? Or, at which cities/towns does the tour stop?
We cruise from Magdeburg to Dresden.
Hi Melodee,
That's a nice cruise, both long and short enough. That takes a day, right? In 2009 I spend a week-end in Magdeburg, walked over a bridge crossing the Elbe. You might have time to do that too, same as in Dresden, cross the bridge on foot in both cities.
This website tells you the water levels on the Elbe. Hope this helps.
