Egronet Ticket

This is perhaps a bit arcane, but there is a special price network for tickets in the regions of Thueringia, Sachsen, Bavaria, and Czech Republic called the Egronet. The conductor on our train pointed this out to us when we were traveling to Pilsen from Bayreuth on a day trip. We bought the Bayern-Boehmen Ticket plus a Servus ticket to Marktredwitz so we could start before 9 am. That came to 51.60 euro for two.
This ticket is 16 euro per person, but you can start beginning at 7:30 am. The Egronet ticket could have taken us as far as Marianske Lazne (Marienbad) then we would buy 2 tickets to Pilsen for about 3 euro pp each way. That would have saved us about 8 euro. The service area is rather limited, so it is a pretty specialized situation. But if you are in the neighborhood, nice to know. Covers Zwickau, Gerda, Hof, Bayreuth, Weiden, in Germany, and Cheb, Marianske Lazne, Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad), Sokolov, and Chomotov in the Czech Republic. Onward tickets in the Czech Republic are quite inexpensive.
