I will be travelling form Chicago to Dusseldorf via London Heathrow May 1, 2026. The Travel to Europe app doesn't show Germany as an option for registering. Is there something I should do now?

I don't know what the "Travel to Europe" app is but Germany is definitely a Schengen country and you can register there.

Currently, the Travel to Europe app is only available for use in travels to Sweden and Portugal.

No, nothing needed. EES will be done in Dusseldorf using a self service kiosk, or manually by an agent.

FWIW: München airport, morning of May 9 (on our way to RS tour starting in Berlin.)
We spent 1 1/2 hours going through the new ESS. The machines were not working and we were routed back to
human officers. They were considerate but the booths were understaffed.
It seems like a works in progress.
