Easy to Moderate Walks in and around Garmisch

Couple of 65+ folks in reasonable shape, but who are more walkers then hikers. What is a good source of info on walking paths we can reach by public transportation. Looking for some without too much elevation gain, good footing but with mountain or water views.

There are trails on the flat between the town and the mountains that are pleasant. Not sure whether this is a possibilty, but perhaps you can be driven to the mountain above the Gorge and walk down. As we recall there was a road down from the mountain. We hiked the gorge, which was incredible, then walked the road back down. If your trip takes you to Mittenwald, not far from Garmisch. there are some incredible walks around the area. There is a bus that makes a circuit from the town to the surrounding villages that is pleasant. You will have a great time, enjoy. Hank, Novato, CA

The hill up from Garmisch is a little steep from my memory, but look at the a walk around the Riessersee. It's a quiet corner right in Garmisch with the Seehaus Restaurant for a bite or drink. Take the Wankbahn to the top for the Wankbahn Wanderwege. Really nice here with great views of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the Zugspitz and seems to be a senior magnet. Wankhaus too for a bite and drink. You can also see the Barmsee outside of Garmisch that is another nice walk around and again the Barmsee Hotel for a stop.
Mittenwald around the Lautersee. Seehof Lautersee for a stop. Really nice in sunny weather and in Winter too. You can continue to the Ferchensee.
