Eagles Nest Tour

We are spending 2 nights in Berchtesgaden, with 18 yr old grandson. I remembered reading that RS recommended a couple who do a tour of Eagle's Nest, including the Documentation Center, but I can't find the name. Does anyone have a recommendation? Tours I have found are from Salzburg for the day, or private. Probably only the grandson will go, so group tour would be better for him. Thank you for any help.

It's the Eagles Nest Tour (yes, Christine and David Harper). I, personally, would not take any 3rd party tour, but if I would, this would be the one I would take.

2rd party tours charge a lot just to transport you from Salzburg to Berchtesgaden, which you can easily and economically do on your own with public transportation. With the Eagles Nest Tour what you pay for is what you get, just a tour, no unnecessary, marked up transportation.

I can highly recommend the tour listed above. Go to the link and read about it. I had been there on my own when I lived in Germany, but I learned so much more on that tour. It's well worth the price.

It is a great tour, and if your grandson is interested at all in history he will benefit from this tour. The explanations are excellent, and the guide really brought the story to life.

I would highly recommend Eagle's Nest Historical Tours, too. The bus tour is 55 euro per person, with all fees paid. There is an option of doing a private tour, too, for 250 euro where you have total access to the guid, but you have to cover entrance fees (which as I recall weren't that much). A small discount is offered for paying in cash (and perhaps for showing the RS Guide). I LOVE history, so I did the 8-hour History Buff tour and enjoyed every second of it.
