Driving to Burg Eltz

We would like to stay on the Wierschem side of Burg Eltz, to visit the castle early in the morning, then drive north into Belgium. We will be in Bacharach the night before. Does anyone know the fastest way to get from Bacharach to the Weirschem area? We are having trouble finding a place to stay there or in Munstermaifeld, too. Traveling in early June 2019. Thank you!

Thank you for the great directions! The Weirschem hotel looks wonderful, but unfortunately information is not offered in English. Wish I spoke German!

Prior to visiting Burg Eltz, we stayed at B&B Haus Theis in Cochem. You’re coming from the other direction, so could visit the castle, stay in the Cochem area, then head up to Belgium on the road towards Ulmen, Kelberg, and then west to the border.

I recall that Burg Eltz has barely enough parking. You may end up on a sloped grass area on either side of a single-lane road. Take special care if it's muddy. It's a substantial walk to the castle entrance, but mostly paved.

As I recall, visitors can use a shuttle van from the upper parking lot and down to the castle (for a small fee). The shuttle is a good idea, as the hill is quite steep, and the walk uphill is a bit grueling. You can find all the details on parking on their website - https://burg-eltz.de/en/ .
