Driving Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Großarl (AT) - which route in June?

in June I'll be driving from Garmsich-Partenkirchen to Großarl (Austria). My question is, should I:

A) Take the "northern route" (passing by/through Bad Tölz, Chiemsee, and Salzburg); an optional side trip is to visit Mittenwald on the way out of GP.

B) Take the "southern route" (passing by/through Mittenwald, Innsbruck, Sankt Johann); an option is the same but swings down to Zell am See.

Drive time seems to be a wash.

Note that we'll be taking a day trip from Großarl to Salzburg or Berchtesgaden, so don't need to stop at either on the way from GP to Großarl.

Thanks

You did not mention the time of year. Option B, but go south at Wiesing towards Zell am Ziller and then 165, 168, 311 towards St. Johann im Pongau. I recommend a drive to Hüttschlag. The walk from the Talmuseum Hüttschlag to the small lake at the end of the valley is peaceful. Hermann Göring visited this valley and hunted there. It is also famous for the many Alm. Some interesting stories there. Traffic around Zell am See can be heavy, but drive up to Berggasthof Mitterberg for the classic view. https://www.foto-webcam.eu/webcam/zellamsee/

I did mention in the text that it would be in June, but have updated the title for clarity.

Thanks for the Zell am Ziller and Hüttschlag suggestions!

We'll be based in Großarl for three days and Hüttschlag is on my list for the via ferrata/klettersteig. I'm also considering the Schützensteig in Berchtesgaden or the one in Kleinarl, though we'll probably only be able to do one of the three).

Just check dates. Some Alm will not be open until the 3rd week in June. June is my favorite time in the Alps. Have fun. I bring a hat for the sun. I've never climbed.
