Driving From Munich to Zugspitze return Oct./17

I asked this in the Austria Forum and was suggested I ask this here: we're planning on driving from Munich to Zugspitze return via Fussen mid-October and wondered if all the roads would be open; not sure what the weather is like at this time of year; would you recommend this road trip?
Thanks,
Jean
P.S. We live in a Winter area so used to driving in snowy conditions.

Jean,

You're not going to encounter snowing conditions. We've done a number of trips in October to these area's. Temps in the daytime will probably be 60's to 70's. Night maybe 40's.

On Oct 11, 2013, we left Berchtesgaden in the morning for Munich with a little bit of snow on the ground, but heard from Germans that Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which we had passed through on the bus four days earlier, had had significant (6"?) snowfall that night. However, I've been in Germany in Oct several other times, and the weather was more like Paul described.

I will probably be making a trip to Bavaria this Oct., and I'm not expecting snow (but then I won't be driving, either).

Thanks Lee & Paul; hopefully it's nice weather but will proceed anyway! I'm hoping the scenery is Beautiful; no one has commented on whether this road trip is worth it?
Thanks,
Jean

It's a very pretty drive. You will enjoy it. I've done this drive several times in October and not encountered bad weather.
