Driving from GP to Fussen via Austria

Hi,

Just wondering if I will need to get a vignette sticker to drive from GP to Fussen via parts of Austria (either B179 or Fernpassstraße/B179). It seems that they are only needed for certain routes. If we do, any idea where I would get one and about how much they cost?

We can make the trip in the same time without leaving Germany, but I imagine it would be a nicer drive going through Austria.

Thanks very much.

A sticker is needed only for motorways (Autobahn). B187 (Garmisch-Lermoos) and B179 (Lermoos-Reutte-Füssen) are just normal Bundesstrassen.

Well, don't underestimate traffic on the B179 - it's the extension of the German A7. In my view, the nicest Route is Garmisch - Ettal - Linderhof - Plansee - Reutte - Füssen.

", any idea where I would get one and about how much they cost?" Any gas station near the border. $17 last time I did it.

SLA019 suggested route is good & will take you into Austria for a bit. Etal & Linderhof are buildings, not scenry. If the weather is bad, Go to Linderhof, reverse and swing up to the Weis Church, then to Fussen (this is great way to approach Neuschwanstein)

Now I am planning my route from Fussen to Munich and would appreciate suggestions on which would be the most scenic. Google maps suggests 17/96 and we won't really have much time to stop along the way for very long.

Thanks again.
