Outside of the Strasbourg and Colmar region, where we know what we want to do. Can anyone please give some potential highlights (scenic and historical) of a drive between Frankfurt and the Lake Constance region. We have about a week for this. Thanks in advance.

See my response under this thread on driving from the Mittelrhein to Füssen/Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The routes are basically the same until you hit Memmingen.
You could also consider driving via Stuttgart south on A81. Other than Burg Hohenzollern at Hechingen, Tübingen and maybe a far detour to Sigmaringen, I previously found driving this route surprisingly dull.
