We are leaving Garmisch tomorrow for Salzburg….any recommendations of where to stop along the way or which route to take.
No hiking because weather could be iffy, but any good places to eat or brewery, or Kaffee & Kuchen places, interesting towns.

Your best route would be to go north on Hwy 95 and right on 472. That route takes you cross country south of Munich.
It's a shame you don't have more time. Southwest of Munich is the town of Andechs, and it's perhaps got the best authentic German beer hall of them all. Nectar of the gods.

My son used to work in Garmisch. He recommended the town of Bad Tölz and the nearby lake Tegernsee. He also suggested this brewery right on the lake, Herzoglich Bayerisches Brauhaus Tegernsee KG.
