I understand that the Historic Green Vault and the New Green Vault in Dresden are two different museums and I want to see them both. I am looking at the ticket booking website. Am I understanding correctly that the New Green Vault is included in the Royal Palace visit, and the Historic Green Vault needs to be booked separately?

Julie, that’s correct. You can buy tickets online. Historic Green Vault is timed entry. You will need to check purses, backpacks, etc as you go in. Your ticket also unlocks the gate to the bathroom, once; second time I crawled under the gate.
But you CAN buy a combo ticket that does both museums.
