At the time I was researching my upcoming trip, there were several direct trains daily from Nuremberg to Vienna. But now, for my travel date in September, it seems like that’s no longer an option. They all have at least one connection and have a longer travel time. We’ll obviously have to just deal with that, but I was wondering if anyone knows the reason for the change in that route?

What is your travel date?
From a DB press release:

During this period, there will be no through regional or long-distance trains; instead, a comprehensive rail replacement bus service has been established.
The closure and the replacement service will have the following effects: Long-distance service: Trains between Regensburg, Passau, and Vienna will be rerouted via Munich or Salzburg. Express buses run three times daily between Passau and Regensburg (or Nuremberg), and seat reservations are available. [...]"
I see. That makes sense. My travel date is Sept 10.
