We have rented a car this October and will be driving early morning from Munich to Fussen to see the Castle then on to Zugspitze and back to Munich; where on the way back on Hwy. 95 would you stop for dinner? Also where would have lunch after the Castle on the way to Zugspitze? We are staying at the Holiday Inn South and would like a restaurant near there for our first night on arrival.

You might just ask the front desk at the Holiday Inn what restaurant they suggest when you get back to town.
It's a shame you're not taking a couple of days down south to visit the Austrian Alps--just a few miles south of where you'll be.
I especially love the town of Andechs where one of the premier beer halls is run by "the brothers."

We are on a coach tour and are renting a car for 1 day after the tour to visit the castle, but we do stop in Salzburg and will be visiting Hitler's Eagle Nest in the Austrian Alps.

The Rick-recommended Andechs Monastery beer garden is not much detour off of Hwy 95 and is open until 8 p.m. daily.
