I have been keeping an eye on the dates on the digital registration form so I could fill it out when our date opened up (next Sunday) - I checked again today and now it says I don't need a digital registration form. It looks like the rules changed on the 10th... however, would it be prudent to download the paper form and fill it out, just in case? I'm just nervous that we'll get someone who doesn't realize that the rules changed and the headache that might ensue.
From the German government website, I’d say Americans still need to do the form. https://www.germany.info/us-en/service/covid-19/2321562. We did one in August and had the printed one ready at Passport Control.
When I enter United States as the country I last visited in 10 days, this is the response on the digital registration website:
Result
You did not visit a risk area.
The country you've listed is not classified as a risk area.
Travellers aged 12 or over must, irrespective of the mode of transport or whether they spent time in a risk area, carry with them a negative test result or proof of vaccination or recovery when entering the country. Further information can be found on the website of the Federal Ministry of Health.
You do not need to complete the Digital Registration on Entry.
You may now close the browser. Enjoy your stay!
When I check the Robert Koch Institute website (https://www.rki.de/DE/Content/InfAZ/N/Neuartiges_Coronavirus/Risikogebiete_neu.html%22%20/) for areas listed as "high risk" it says:
Status: November 12, 2021, 1.30 p.m.
3. Areas that are no longer considered high risk areas:
United States of America
So it won't even let me fill out the form online when I enter United States - but I know how things rapidly change..
Effective as of today, the US was taken off Germany's list of "high risk countries." This is why the digital registration is no longer required for us. My understanding is that they meet once per week to decide which countries come off and which go on the list. I think it would be odd for them to add us back on the list one week after taking us off. That's not enough time to really prove out a long-term upward trendline for COVID cases.
Yeah, I will be going to Europe on Tuesday, arriving Amsterdam, some time in Belgium then maybe Germany, it looks like the requirement for a registration form for most countries has gone away. They have however made vaccination proof mandatory if you are visiting for tourism...which I assume is not a problem for anyone hoping to travel.
Does anyone know if you need to complete the form if you are only transiting through a high risk area?
I’m reading that it’s not necessary. I’m traveling from the US with a 2 hour layover in London before traveling to Germany
we did a covid register form when we flew into frankfurt 3 weeks ago
been in france 2 weeks using eu digital certificate for vaccination dcc
now taking train to frankfurt from france
is another form needed again into germany?
