As of 1 JAN, 2026 the price for the Deutschland Ticket (subscription) increases to 63 euro.
It's still only fractionally more expensive than my monthly local bus ticket was pre-Covid, so it remains excellently priced in comparison considering it's for the entire country. But I do think the pricing is becoming unappealing for people who don't already use local public transport (much), especially with the subscription model. Which is a pity.
For me, I just need to remember to cancel the subscription for the months I won't use it - I forgot in September. (This month I will only just break even on the 31st since I haven't travelled much - but next month I'll be saving money by November 12th.)
Before the introduction of the DT, transport experts considered a price of €99 to be realistic and reasonable. The Green Party prevented this. And now that it is clear that the federal government will not increase its subsidy of €1.5 billion per annum and that the laender will therefore not increase their €1.5 billion share either, realistic pricing is being implemented bit by bit.
That makes sense. The price increase will have people doing the math more, especially tourists, but it still is a good deal (imo) even if it goes up to €99,
For my September trip to Germany, the Deutschland Ticket included trains from Berlin to Quedlinburg, trains throught the Harz Mountains for 5 days, trains back to Berlin, and then local transport in Berlin for 3 days. What a deal. Even at 99 euro, it would be a deal.
