Hello, is it possible for Americans to buy Deutschland-Ticket without having account in German bank? On DB site they asking for European address and for European bank information. They sell it as subscription. I need it only for July. I was told that in order to avoid 49 euro charge for next month ( August) I have to cancel it before July 10? Is it correct? I am flying to Frankfurt on July 20 and even if they sell me these tickets for cash or with credit card it will be too late to cancel it for August. Is this correct? Main purpose of this Deutschland-Ticket for me would be to travel along the Rhine castles, to Wurzburg, to Cologne and to Frankfurt. Thank you in advance.

The D-Ticket will not allow you to use any of the ICE or other high-speed trains (the ones that take reservations make fewer stops, and travel longer distances.
Most people traveling Cologne > Würzburg (or vice-versa) would probably prefer an ICE train. Looking at today's, schedule, I am seeing direct ICEs on this route (9:43 - 12:01, for example, just 2 hrs, 17 minutes.)
Using the D-Ticket for this trip, which is valid only for regional trains, will require you to ride 3 different regional trains and to dedicate around SIX hours of travel time. So it may be that your D-ticket comes in handy much of the time, but also that some of your trips might call for real tickets. The ICE train tickets can be bought in advance at a discount at the DB site (lowest prices are non-refundable.)
I will let those with more knowledge guide you on D-Ticket purchase/cancel details.

Use the MVV app. (Munich). Download the app. Open an account. Purchase your D ticket for July ( buy it now). You will receive a confirmation email which also includes the link for cancelling your subscription. Check your D ticket, (basically a QR code on your app ) has downloaded. Cancel your subscription using link in email. This takes about 20 minutes total.
You July D ticket will remain valid for the month. Your American credit card will work fine.

Carol, so far with Citi Visa and Sapphire visa app was frozen at the very end of purchase with hvv and mvv. I am not sure what could trigger error message.

Thank you , got it on mvv. They are checking the credit all the time and it makes it a bit complicated.
