Hello,
We are planning to get the 49 Euro Deutschland Ticket for unlimited transportation for a month on regional trains and buses. Does anyone know if it includes ferries/boats on the Mosel and Rhine rivers? If not,how does one get tickets for the boats? We are going to Germany in September.
The €49 D-Ticket does not include cruise boats but does include some ferries.
...how does one get tickets for the boats?
For ferries, just walk up, show your D-Ticket, and if it's not accepted, pay the foot-passenger fee. It's about €2 each for the ferry crossings one way. Day Cruise prices vary depending on distance traveled. The most scenic segment (Rüdesheim or Bingen to St. Goar or St. Goarshausen) is roughly €20-€25...
Bingen-Rüdesheimer Cruises: €24 each.

KD Cruises: 20% discount at the Kiosk if you show the train ticket you used to reach the boarding town.

I'm not certain that the D-Ticket earns you the cruise discount, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
This is very helpful! Thank you!
The Deutschlandticket includes all public Rhine ferries of the Rhine-Moselle transport association (VRM), i.e.: Linz-Krip, Remagen-Erpel, St. Goar-St. Goarshausen, Boppard-Filsen, Koblenz-Ehrenbreitstein, Kaub (cf. https://www.vrminfo.de/fahrkarten/tickets/deutschlandticket/). It is not valid on tourist boats.
Oh, thanks for that, sla019. I must have wrongly assumed that the other ferry operators were on the same page with Bingen-Rüdesheimer (which will not accept it for theirs.)

I'll correct my previous post.
Update 05/09/2024:
According to reports in the local press, the operators of the Boppard-Filsen and St. Goar - St. Goarshausen Rhine ferries have left the VRM because the reimbursements they received from the VRM for the DT for 2023 were nowhere near enough to cover the costs. I am afraid there will be more trouble with smaller carriers in the coming weeks.
Also note the Deutschland Pass does not cover the ferries if you drive on, only walking/bicycle.
