Deutsche Banh website fares

I am shopping for early deals on train tickets for a May trip. I have already committed to specific travel dates and times. I am surprised to find some fares already available. Might the Deutsche Bank prices decrease during the next couple of months? Thanks. Jp

If you're buying enough DB tickets, you might look at the BahnCard 25, which gives a 25% discount on your fare purchases. When I bought my BahnCard 25 in June, it cost €19.90 for 2nd class; you would need to purchase about €80 in fares for it to pay off.

If you're traveling within a single region, there may be regional discount cards that make sense.

"Might the Deutsche Bank prices decrease during the next couple of months?"

The discounted fares never go down - only up, as available quantities go down.

But that doesn't necessarily mean it's a good idea for you to start buying all your individual travel legs. Some of the available fares never go up at all. Some are completely non-refundable and and should not be bought until the day of travel. Some fares may never become available because DB doesn't even sell them.

Traveling by train in Germany is pretty easy - but ticketing is very complex. And if you are unaware that prices never drop, you are probably unaware of a dozen other important train travel facts. I encourage you to share the exact trips you will be making along with those travel dates and times. If you have travel companions, share their ages as well. That way you can get some personal assistance here before saying "Tschüss" to your your travel dollars.

You should be seeing both the current advance-purchase "Savings" fare (where available) and the regular, unrestricted "Flexpreis" fare at the same time on any schedule search for German trains. There can be other rates in between those low and high points. German tickets go on sale about 6 months in advance of travel but international trains may follow different patterns.

Given that you have dates and times, I will presume you also have destinations and travel companions selected. You should check out travel deals like Regional tickets that can be used by up to 5 people (and children are usually free). Even a few days traveling using these tickets significantly reduces the average prices below even the super saver fares.
