Related to original closed thread: "Deutsche Bahn: closing of direct train route Berlin - Hamburg from Aug. '25 until Apr. '26"
Deutsche Bahn (DB) InfraGo communicated yesterday a press release that due to hard winter conditions the originally planned date of April 2026 for re-opening renovated direct rail line Berlin - Hamburg cannot be hold up. A new plan / concept is in progress and will be communicated on March 13, 2026, hopefully including a new and not far re-opening date. So currently there is no planned end date of closing available.
This communication appears unprofessional because only one week before DB committed the planned end date of closing to rbb24 (regional public broadcaster for Berlin and Brandenburg).
Travelers planning a train journey between Germany's two largest cities Berlin and Hamburg still can rely on the current active workaround which needs 45 minutes longer (instead only 2 hours) without change of train.
