Deutsche Bahn account - verification codes to wrong number

I created a Deutsche Bahn account to purchase train tickets through in preparation for an upcoming trip. However, it appears that the payment verification code is being sent to the wrong phone number and I cannot receive it. I have added my cell phone number to my account information and triple-checked that it is correct, and yet the code is still being sent to an erroneous phone number. Has anyone run in to this before? I cannot purchase tickets online without verifying payment.

Thanks for your help!

When you say "payment verification code" are talking about a code sent from DB, or one from your credit card company?

Or did you add the country code when you plugged in your phone number? When I just checked mine, it looks like this: 001xxx-xxx-xxxx.

I also might try deleting the credit card info and re-entering it. Or possibly deleting the cell phone number, saving it, then re-entering it.

EDITED TO ADD: You know, I just had a flashback to the same thing happening with me. I could not get a verification code from them. And I'm sorry, but for the life of me, I cannot remember what I did. I'll check through my emails and see if I wrote anything down but there's some glitch in the system that is causing that. I do know that I got it straightened out because I bought multiple tickets through the app or online.

We had the same problem ordering tickets from Renfe (Spain). We ended up paying through PayPal.

I’m talking about a code from DB. My phone number on my account includes the country code (001), and I already tried deleting and re-entering the credit card information. Let me know if you can remember the solution that worked for you! Thank you so much for your help.

Thanks also for the tip about PayPal. I’ll look into that

I’ve had similar problems in the past from the formatting of my phone number. Maybe just go with „1“ for country code instead of „001“? Drop any parentheses or plus signs if you are using them.

using the 001 can be confusing it, Yes, 1 is for North America, but the 00 varies from country to country as an indicator of an international call. I suggest you lose it.

leave just the 1 (and as said above, no hyphens or parenthesis) or use a plus sign which is internationally recognised for "here comes a country code". Either 12345678900 or +12345678900

Try those...

I just remembered that I wound up using PayPal, too - at least for the first transaction. But after that, somehow I got it to accept my AMEX card - I just don't remember how. I do know that my mobile phone number in my DB account begins with 001. So it reads like this: 0015556667788

I don't think that was the issue, though.

I decided to try PayPal and it worked! DB automatically added the 00 before the +1, so I’m thinking that’s the formatting they want. No idea what the issue was, but fortunately it appears PayPal is a fine option.

Thanks all!

It's possible that once you use PayPal, the rest of the stuff clicks into place and you can add a credit card. I know I only used PayPal once (I went back and checked my orders) and then managed to add my AMEX card for future orders.

Either way, I'm very glad it's working for you. Stuff like that is so frustrating!
