I want to add seat reservation for my booking, but there’s difference in time schedule between my online ticket reservation with the one I saw in the official website.
My reservation is for:
Cologne Hbf to Berlin Ostbahnhof, ICE 949
Dep 23:17, arr 05:47(+1)
In the website with nearest time schedule are:
1. Dep 22:21, arr 05:47, ICE 949
2. Dep 23:11, arr 05:47, ICE 100 (transfer in Dortmund), ICE 949
What should I do? 😳
Travel date?
Without digging into it, It would look like ICE 949 is scheduled to depart Cologne early, possibly due to track work, so it can arrive at Berlin Ostbahnhof on time.
18 Dec 2019
@sam so I just make the seat reservation on the one without transfer?
Did you buy this ticket a while ago? Since Dec 18 is after the semiannual schedule change on Dec 14, I am guessing that it is simple schedule revision. I notice that ICE 949 leaves Koeln Hbf 50 minutes before ICE 100 departs, yet ICE 100 gets to Dortmund Hbf 4 minutes before ICE 949 gets there, thus there is 6 minutes to change trains. ICE 949 takes 30 minutes to get to Duesseldorf Hbf from Koeln Hbf, while ICE 100 does it in 20 minutes. ICE 949 sits at Oberhausen Hbf for 21 minutes, ICE 100 skips this station, stopping at Duesseldorf Flughafen instead for 2 minutes. Maybe they decided to have ICE 949 stop that long to meet another inbound train. This could all be normal schedule adjustment, just like airlines do all the time.
I would stick with ICE 949. ICE 100 is coming from Basel, and if it is just a little late, you could miss the connection. My experience is they would hold ICE 949 if ICE 100 was running just a little late, but who knows. ICE 949 originates at Koeln Hbf, and is direct to Berlin. Its the safe bet.
I bought it in October 😁. Thanks for your reply @sam. Made the seat reservation on ICE 949 just now ...
