DB German Rail Twin Pass Second Traveler Information

Hi, I am new to the forum and would like some help in purchasing a German Rail Twin Pass from DB's online site for me and my mom.

I am trying to purchase the summer promotional German Rail Twin Pass for 15 consecutive days. However, during the checkout process, I could not find an area where I could list the passport number for the primary passenger, nor a place to input the second traveler's information beyond their name and passport number. Please correct me if I am mistaken, but I looked online and found that it is necessary to have these information (both passengers' names and passport numbers) present on the ticket. If I continue the ordering process, will they contact me to request additional information or will this have to be done during activation at the station? I am also asking because my mom's country of residence is different from mine, and I would like to know how this information can be presented on the ticket if it was not asked for during checkout. Please advise, and thank you!

I have contacted the Deutsche Bahn Personenverkehr Facebook page about the situation and was redirected to GermanRailPasses.com by a site administrator. Again, please let me know if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that DB and GermanRailPasses.com are not associated with one another?

This is the exact link of the rail pass option I'm interested in: https://www.dbregio-shop.de/index.php/product/199/show/0/0/0/0/buy

I would also email questions at sales@bahn.co.uk for English speaking rep. You' ll probably have an answer tomorrow morning.

Yes, I went through a dummy booking and it asked for my "fellow traveler" name and passport number, and it got my name in the details page, but never asked for my passport number.

Its a little late now, but 530 EUR is a lot of money. Have you researched your itinerary with actual prices from the DB website, taking into consideration Laender tickets, Verkehrsverbund tickets, and Sparpreis tickets. Don't use the little Rick Steves price estimating map as it only uses full price tickets.

Thank you guys for your help and replies! I actually purchased the Twin Pass this morning from the DB website. The listed price from GermanRailPasses.com (@SteveB thank you for letting me know that I had listed the wrong site! I've since corrected the mistake) is 144 EUR more than DB. Also, the pass is delivered by post and not an immediate PDF download like DB, which avoids the risk of it being lost in the mail.

Here's the additional information I received that helped with my decision to purchase, hopefully this can benefit other travelers with the same issue:

Because I am leaving in one week and was afraid that I would not be able to purchase my pass in time, I posted to three different places (DB's Facebook page, this travel forum, and DB's service-community forum) and emailed sales@bahn.co.uk about my question yesterday. DB's Facebook page was very quick to reply (I got a response in just 10 minutes), but it was not the information that I was looking for. Then I received another reply to my post and the person (not the official DB Personenverkehr) said that only the personal data of the holder is necessary. The fellow passenger only needs to list his or her name. At first, I felt hesitant to purchase the pass on just this one response. However, this morning DB responded to my question in their forum and said that they had noticed my other post on their Facebook page and his/her's colleagues have already answered my question, and so I decided to purchase my pass after hearing back from the forum.

During the checkout process, I realized that I had been wrong about having no space to for the primary passenger's passport number. In the first stage of checkout, there is a space to put the second passenger's name under the dropdown offer menu. The box is called "Name fellow traveler or Mitreisender"; this is the only place they ask for any information on the second traveler. The passport number of the holder is entered after you choose your Valid on/from date. Personal detail is submitted in Stage 3, and after saving changes/continuing, it skips the Stage 4 (Payment) and goes straight to Stage 5, Verify. You will be asked for your payment details after moving on from Stage 5. Upon completing your order, your ticket will immediately be presented as a PDF download on the confirmation page. I noticed that on my pass, the country of residence was not shown, which is different from the examples I've found online. Perhaps it is because the PDF download has only been implemented for a few years?

You're not the first person to have trouble fining the second traveler field on DB's rail pass shopping cart, but it does look better than last time I looked. Note that only the consecutive-day passes can be printed at home, while flexi passes must be delivered.

The price difference between DB and the Eurail-operated US site that you looked at is not €144. They converted €530 to US$674. That's just a little higher than the conversion rate that your credit card probably charged. If you are in the US, I'd expect your credit card statement to reflect somewhere in the price range of $630-645 at today's rates, depending on the terms of the credit card agreement, or more if they add a foreign transaction fee. As you travel, keep in mind that €1 may be closer to $1.20.
