DB BAHN Website Question

I'm sure I'm simply not seeing the proper icon to click, but I am buffaloed when trying to buy a one-way ticket on the DB BAHN website.

I enter a 'Start' location, a 'Destination' location, select 'Single Ride', enter the 'Date and Time' for the 'Outward Journey' and leave everything else as default. I then push 'Search' and there listed under 'Please choose a connection' and 'Selection outward journey' are a list of various possible trains/connections.

How do I select one of those and pay for it?

The little orange arrow opens up a dialog with more information, Under 'Price for all travelers' it says 'Sale from 27.02.2014 possible' and has a little clock icon. There is a link that says 'Choose return trip' (I don't want a return trip - I want one way).

Am I trying to buy a ticket too early for the system to accept it? The travel date is May 29, 2014.

EDITED: Ooh - I just had a thought, since the ticket may go on sale in a couple of weeks is the website simply telling me to wait until it's on sale?

Hi Bruce,

You're exactly right - the fares for that date can't be purchased yet. On 2/27/14 you'll be able to buy the one-way tickets you need.

A tip: use the calendar icon rather than typing in the dates so you won't confuse month/day/year with day/month/year.

It may have improved, but a year or so ago, when I was planning a trip and buying tickets, I found that the UK/Ireland English worked well, while oddly the American English site didn't.

DB US site worked well for me with one exception which was trying to get seat booking Brussels to Cologne which to me was important as I am using the extension for a German rail pass which means only German ICE and no Thalys on this leg.

I have to say the DB site is a little tough to navigate (or it was for me a few years ago, the last time I rode the train). I filled out all the applicable fields and when I clicked to finalize the whole thing, the answer came back that they couldn't give me a fare. Thinking maybe I'd chosen dates too far in the future, changed the dates for 7 days hence and same thing happened. Like Bruce's, my itinerary was all one way.

Did the journey you tried to book involve a change in Liége or Aachen? If so, the problem may have been that part of the trip was operated by Belgian rail, which you can't purchase through DB's website. The ICE operated by DB between these two cities (and then continues on to Frankfurt), only runs a few times a day. It's not a regular hourly train.
