Daytrip to Lake - from Salzburg or Munich?

Thanks to the community, it's helping me plan Munich and Salzburg end of June.
Would like to plan a day trip from either Munich or Salzburg using public transportation or a tour to one of the lakes near Munich or Salzburg?
Like to do a little hike, walk around, maybe boat ride.
I don't know if adding a cable car trip or salt mine or luge run is feasible or worth it.

Reading about Koningssee, Halstatt, others, but don't know what's doable as a day trip and where to go.

From Salzburg, you are very close to Berchtesgaden and Königssee by bus (less than 1 hr). It would be very much worth it!
Hallstatt is more time-consuming, but still doable as a day trip.
Cannot say much about options from Munich.

both Tegernsee and Königssee are beautiful. I'd actually prefer Tegernsee but I might be in the minority

I've not spent any time at Ammersee.

Königssee is a bit of a special place for me. Been a couple of times on the first boat out: both times the weather was glorious (misty morning turning into a warm, bright sunny day). An easy to moderate hike at the bottom end of the lake to Rothbach Waterfall. Cable car to the top of the Jenner close by (photo opportunities)

Tegernsee is also top notch. Bad Wiessee has a long promenade with views. Rottach-Egern has an easy walk by a stream flowing into town. Ferries. Not many foreign tourists on Tegernsee.

Ammersee is fairly easy to reach from Munich. I've visited Andech Monastery on Ammersee but spent no time on the lake. Starnbergersee is the quickest of all to reach from Munich. Walked along a trail from Starnberg to Berg, where Mad Ludwig met his unfortunate end. Both Ammersee and Starnbergersee have a fairly long cruise route (done neither), and both have Sunday brunch cruises.

Last but not least, Chiemsee (just under two hours from Munich). Maybe a bit too far but is home to one of Ludwig's palaces (Herrenchiemsee), as well as the tiny island of Fraunchiemsee (abbey and a couple of restaurants). Flat hiking on both islands.

Less touristic and longer/harder to get to from München are the Schliersee and Spitzingsee. One or more of the chairlifts or cable cars should be running near the Spitzingsee in June. There are days when the Tegernsee and Schliersee are fogged in and/or with low clouds, but the Spitzingsee is clear at the higher elevation. You can check the webcams.

St. Wolfgang im Salzkammergut on the Wolfgangsee and taking the cog train SchafbergBahn to the top is great, but I'm not sure how to reach St. Wolfgang using public transportation from Salzburg, or if it is possible.

I'm sure I saw buses heading to St Wolfgang... it would be worth looking

If you go to St Wolfgang and take the SchafbergBahn up, make sure you walk to the Schafbergspitze behind the hotel and/or the Himmelspforte, to get the views of the Attersee and Mondsee. Some people walk the crests here to the Spinnerin, but not for my old shaky legs. Don't miss the view.
