We are planning a trip from Prague to Nuremberg and found the "daytrip" app. We have never used it and wondered if anyone has ever used this service? Basically you are hiring a car and driver and for extra costs you can also do side trips.
No clue what this service might be.
I don't know anything about day trips from Prague. That would be a question for the CZ Republic forum. But I can tell you that...
1.) Nuremberg is too far away from Prague for a day trip. Also that...
2.) Getting from Prague to Nuremberg by public transport is very simple and inexpensive. And that...
3.) Day trips from Nuremberg to nearby places are the same.
Thousands of people, both Europeans and visitors from abroad, make these journeys every day using public transport.
About 3.) above: Nuremberg is a rail hub - lots of wonderful day trips are possible from there.
Assuming that you don't want to do just a day trip - yes, there are many Czech companies who offer transfer form Prague to Nuremberg for approx. €250, in case you would prefer that over easy and cheap public transport. Just google for transfer, Prague, Nuremberg and check reviews on tripadvisor. A day trip would be IMHO a bad investment - 8 hours of travel for approx 4 hours of sightseeing.
If you are referring to mydaytrip.com, I have used it 3 times recently in Central Europe when travelling with my 2 sons. We took a car from Nuremberg to Prague, one from Prague to Cesky Krumlov, and one from Cesky Krumlov to Vienna. We had originally planned to stop along the way but my son wasn't feeling well so we went direct. It can seem pricey compared with public transportation but I feel the ease of door-to -door transportation and the ability to stop along the way makes it a good value overall.
I have had nothing but good experiences with the service. Each time they have shown up at the requested time in a nice car. One of the drivers was fluent in English, the other two had very good English - no issues with communication. They were very professional and accommodating with the requested stops if you decide to shorten or slightly lengthen each stop. I would definitely recommend the service.
I priced some alternatives to mydaytrip but they weren't much cheaper and I liked the flexibility and ease of booking with their service. I booked all of these rather last minute within 18-24 hours of departure and they were able to accommodate me however I was only requesting the regular sedan for 3 people. There are many positive reviews on Tripadvisor as well if you would like other opinions.
We just used www.mydaytrip.com to go from Nuremburg to Prague and it was a great experience. They pick you up and your hotel and take you to your new hotel. No hassling with taking your luggage and packages in City A from the taxi to the bus or train station and then getting a taxi again in City B. It may have cost more but it was so convenient and less time traveling overall. Our driver was Tom K from Prague and he was very nice and spoke good English. He gave us cookies and water. www.praguetransport.com also does a similar service. We used them to go from the hotel to the airport at 4:15 am. Their price was less than what the hotel was charging for a taxi to get to the airport. I would use either of these companies again. It was nice having English speaking drivers. Good luck!
