I have the RS travel Germany book. In the book under getting around on your own. I noticed the recommendation to get to Dachau from downtown Munich is to take the S-2 and that it takes 45 minutes. If I am reading the information correctly it looks like there are 3 of those trains per hour. However on the DB app the train takes a little more than 2 hours and then a 10 minute bus ride. Directions for taking S-2 include taking the KZ #726 Bus (is this a private bus or can I use the Deutschland Ticket pass for that bus as well as the S-2)?

You can take the S-Bahn(S-2) from the Aldstadt to the Dachau train station and it takes roughly 1/2 hour. The 726 buses seem to be every 20minutes or so depending on the season. The bus takes about 10min.
You can use the Deutschland ticket for S-bahn and Bus.
It's very easy to get to.

That would be odd as Dachau is a suburb immediately outside of Munich City. 21 minutes from the Hbf on the S-2, or 11 minutes on the Regionalbahn 16 that goes every hour about 25 past the hour. Then the bus connection which is only 7 minutes.
