I’m sure this has been asked before, but nothing equivalent is coming up when I search here. Is it possible to take a day cruise on the Rhine from Frankfurt? I mean, I googled it so I know these trips are possible. But is this a good way to see the Rhine ? Or Is there another way going from Frankfurt you would suggest. I’m talking about a one day cruise starting in Frankfurt and coming back to Frankfurt getting transported both ways . If this is not a particularly good option, what might you recommend?Thank you.
You need to tran to either Ruedesheim or Bingen to start the boat ride
As stephen explained. Bingen has different stations - so ticket yourself to Bingen Rhein Stadt station - it's very close to the boat dock in Bingen.
Cruise in 90-100 minutes or so to St. Goar or St. Goarshausen (across the river) to view the best scenery; there are additional things to do - like castle tours and chair lift rides, and other things too, if you want a fuller Rhine experience.
There is a direct train to Rüdesheim every hour from Frankfurt at 08:53, 09:53, 10:53, etc. that takes about 1 hour 10 min. and the dock for KD is a 10 min. walk from the train station.
Having done this trip at least 50 times, I always recommend getting on the ship at Rüdesheim if you are doing this in the summer, due to the ship filling up. The people getting on in Bingen, often have a really hard time finding a good place to sit up on the deck. Plus, it gives you a chance to see Rüdesheim for 30 min. or so, because the train arrival and ship departure do not match up well.
Thanks Everyone!
