Looking for a day trip on Sat 24.7.17 from Stuttgart that would interest active kids 6 and 9. Traveling by train. We are thinking Bad Wildbad any thoughts?
If your kids are at all into cars and planes try the Technical Museum at Sinsheim.
I've been to Bad Wildbad, and it is a beautiful place. I guess you could go up the incline for a view, but the main attraction is a great spa. I would not call the spa, which is "textilefrei", appropriate for kids.
A better destination for kids, I would think, is Burg Hohenzollern. OK, Hohenzollern is not technically a real castle. It was built in the mid-1800s as an apartment for Wilhelm I, but you don't have to tell the kids that.
Burg Hohenzollern is outside of Hechingen, which is about an hour's train ride from Stuttgart. There are multiple train connections to Hechingen; there is a direct connection every two hours. The bus from Hechingen Bhf to Burg Hohenzollern only runs a couple of times a day, each way. Check the schedules on the Bahn website. i was not there at a train time and took a taxi to the castle.
