Day trip from Munich to a lake where can swim

Hi,

This might be a little far from Munich, but could be managed in a day - it is a lake next to a charming little village in Austria called Hallstadt. You can rent a boat and go swimming in the picturesque lake below the village. I was there 20 years ago and can still picture it's beauty in my memory. Hope you are able to go!

Sorry - I misspelled the name of the town - it is Hallstatt. It is a 2 1/2 hour drive from Munich.

Starnberger See, Ammersee, Tegernsee, Kochelsee, Walchensee and some others. Easily accessible by public transport within 40-60 min.

Broekerd - it looks beautiful but unfortunately we don't have the time for such a long trip. sla019 - do you have any favorites among these, particularly with respect to how good it is for swimming in the summer?

You can swim at the sandy beach area of the River Isartor right in in Munich not far from the Isartor old city gate.
