Day trip from Munich-Salzburg/Dachau in one day?

Hi! I'm heading to Munich for my first time in May before traveling to Prague and Berlin. I'm extremely interested in visiting Dachau and also have an interest in visiting Salzburg. I'm wondering, if I rent a car, do you think it's feasible to visit both places in one day? Additionally, is it worth it to take a day trip out of Munich for a full day if I'm only there for two days? I've heard mixed reviews on if you can see everything you need to in Munich in one full day. Any and all tips/recommendations are welcomed. Thank you!!

Dachau and Salzburg in one day is not realistic.

Dachau is appropriate for a day trip. Salzburg needs more time.

I agree with David. It is not feasible to do Dachau and Salzburg as a single day trip. Also... don't underestimate the power of seeing a Holocaust site. You may not feel like doing a whole lot after the visit.

Depending on your interests, Munich has plenty to see and can easily fill 2 days -- 1.5 days, if you spend half a day at Dachau. Save Salzburg for another trip.

David & Dave are right. Suggested itinerary: Day 1 morning take the tram to Nymphenburg Palace. Return to center city for the rest of the day.

Day 2 morning take train or tram (I don't remember which) to Dachau, then back to central city for the rest of the day
