We are considering doing a cruise down the Danube March 25-April 1st. This means will would be there on Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and ending on Easter. Does anyone know if any of the tours, museums, castles, and touristy places would be open or not ???? We have to decide by tomorrow so please respond ASAP :)
So you are asking about what country, city, tour, museum, castle, "touristy place" and part of the river in particular?
On Palm Sunday we would be in Bucharest. Maundy Thursday in Passau, Germany. Good Friday Regensburg, Germany, Saturday Nuremberg, Germany, Easter Sunday and Monday Prague
Prague?? On the Danube?
For Germany: Maundy Thursday and Saturday shouldn't be an issue, but Good Friday is a public holiday. You may want to check on whatever places in Regensburg you want to visit.
Can't answer for the other countries, except that you may want to be aware that Easter is on April 8 next year in the orthodox churches.
Anna, Prague is mentioned probably as a land based extension to the river cruise - not that it's on the Danube.
yes Prague would be an extension of the trip at the end.
I figured as much.
I must admit I was simply a bit annoyed at the vague and general nature of the question, and all of this to be answered until tomorrow. A route passing through several countries and lots of different towns, obviously with all different holiday dates and even different Easter dates, no specifications at all as to which places, museums etc. they are asking about… and then, only upon further inquiry, Prague, of all places, suddenly appearing on the list. Why would you want helpful forum members to waste their time trying to answer your question about Easter on a Danube cruise if you aren't going to be anywhere near the Danube for Easter?
Sorry about my annoyance, should have just ignored the question.
Why not just call the cruise line?
