Dachau tour

Hey folks,
I'm landing in Munich at 10:10 am on June 14th. I need to get to munich, drop my luggage at the hotel then catch the train to Dachau. I'm hoping to get into a worthwhile tour, so I've mentioned my itinerary above to give you an idea on my timing to the camp. I'm guessing that I'll get there by 1pm? Maybe sooner? Does anyone have any tour groups that they have experience with and recommend? I'm getting into Munich a day before my family, so I'd like to visit Dachau before picking them up on the 15th and heading to Salzburg.
Thanks for the help!

I just booked with Radius Tours today & saw that their latest tour starts at 12:15. I believe the camp takes at least 2.5 hours to see & is 45 mins each way from Munich. I also believe that it closes at 5 PM.

If booking with them, Rick recommends choosing “student” when buying online to get his discount ($2).

Munich Walks might have other departure times that could be better for you.

thanks. 12:15 is the tour departure from the train station, I believe? I might be able to make that, but I'm not sure how long passport control will take me to get through then hop the train to the city. I also have to drop luggage so that seems tight.

Agreed. If that’s the only time you have to go, maybe hiring a private guide that can do it on your schedule might be worth it.

The last English tour by the Dachau Memorial starts at 1:00 PM. The cost of a guided tour by the Memorial's own trained guides is 3,50€. If you get there a little later, they do rent audio guides for 4€. Some people prefer the audio guide because they don't have to run on the human guide's schedule.

If you are running late, you could check your bags in a locker at the Hauptbahnhof, go to Dachau, and come back later to pick up your bags and check in to your hotel.

The 12:21 regional train from the Hbf will get you to the Memorial at 12:52, which might be soon enough, but the 12:10 S2 will get you to Dachau at 12:48, which should be enough time to sign up for a tour by the Memorial.

An adult MVV single trip ticket from the airport to downtown is 11,60€ A Gesamtnetz (entire network) Tageskarte is 13,-€, so for an extra 1,40€ you get unlimited travel all over Munich rather than just to the inner zone. That would include RT from your hotel to the Memorial. So for 3,50 for a Memorial tour plus 1,40 extra for the MVV ticket (4,90€ total), you get your travel to the Memorial and a guided tour, vs. 26€ from Radius.

Where is your hotel?

Thank you, Lee.
This is great information. Especially the part of storage luggage at the station, I was unaware of that. I'll make that my goal, but if I can't make the time, an audioguide is a suitable substitute, I suppose.

Thnaks!

The lockers are located in rooms just off the end of track (Gleis) 26 in the main hall of the Munich Hauptbahnhof. The stairs down to the S-Bahn station are right there, too.
