This is our first time traveling to Germany. We arrive in Frankfurt on a flight that connects through Iceland about 12:00 noon. What will the time frame to get through passport control be like? Do we also need to go through immigration? We plan to catch a train to Berlin the same day. Thank you in advance for any and all advice.

You should go through passport control in Iceland, since that is your first stop in the Schengen area. When you arrive at Frankfurt, you just walk out the door.

Customs is just walking out the "nothing to declare" door after you get your luggage.
