Try not to drool over this great story in The NY Times , as is said - " All the news that's fit to print " https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/29/world/europe/currywurst-konnopkes-berlin.html?action=click&module=Editors%20Picks&pgtype=Homepage
At this occasion I want to make you familiar with the famous GDR hotdog called Kettwurst. It is celebrating a revivial currently in Berlin; same for French cuisine (in a new way).
Back to that NYT story and the other side of the wall: Mr. Bier was owner of the most famous West-Berlin Currywurst stand (Ku'Damm 195). He still has a GDR note which he accepted in the night of Berlin Wall opening. Just because the GDR people had no D-Mark, only their currency Ostmark; official exchange 1 : 10. But at this occasion it did not matter.
On Nov 9 started a 4 day party in Berlin I will never forget; also the speed of political decisions which normally takes years, all done in 24 hours. You cannot imagine how it was in these days; so excptional for both sides.
