We are traveling to Germany next spring and hubby wants to purchase an authentic cuckoo clock. However, we are not going near the black forest area. Where can we purchase a clock that is truly good quality. We will be traveling from St. Goar south to Salzburg hitting smaller towns along the way.

Look for a VdS label for genuine Black Forest clocks, Verein die Schwarzwald.

There is a big cuckoo clock shop in St Goar. I'm pretty sure they sell some authentic Black Forest clocks.

Most affordable ones are not made in Germany. You might want to chat with your bank manager before starting the trip if you want a large hand carved one made in Germany, particularly if you want it to do any tricks.
