Covid and Oktoberfest

So my wife and I are coming to Europe for 3 months in mid sept. We have 5 days booked in Munich to attend Oktoberfest before heading to Dublin for a wedding.

Recently watching YouTube videos and reading about restrictions in Germany I see that many museums, transit, etc. are still requiring masks to be worn. Additionally, I’ve seen some talk regarding a pass Issued FROM Germany in order to verify vaccination status etc.

So with all that said, I’m wondering what, If any actions I should take in order to get into Oktoberfest? Currently I have the full federal vaccination certificates from the Canadian govt. I have my health records regarding the vaccination also readily available.

There doesn’t seem to be very much information regarding any requirements to gain entry into Oktoberfest, so just wondering if anyone has any insight or opinion as to how it will go?

Edit* I see the mayor officially announced it will go ahead without restrictions of requirements (presumably of masks or vaccine passes) so that’s welcoming… I did not see this update when I looked last

All I know is, after having gone to Oktoberfest in 2019 and seeing how crowded the tents were and how closely we all sat together while eating, drinking, and singing, I would not go while there is still a pandemic going on!

one thing to remember is that this virus is a moving target - the current projection is that, but with flu and new variants of covid things can change and change quickly.

If I were travelling there, especially for a quarter of a year (remember that the Schengen limit is 90 days, not 3 months) I'd have all my duckies in a row and have my certificates and records with me - probably won't be checked but if you do need them at some time it is a lot easier if they are in your luggage.

When we take trips these days we pack a week's worth of tests.

At this time, Germany has dropped many of it's requirements and precautions regarding covid, except for, I believe, masking on some public transport. Measures can also vary by State. So any information you see regarding a covid pass is outdated.

What Oktoberfest may require, I guess is to be determined, they really do not address the issue on their website, so I guess minimal, but they may be waiting until closer to the event.

But in general, as Nigel indicated, things change, 3 months is a long time in covid years. Have your records, be boosted, there is a new booster coming out, probably after you leave, so maybe not a concern. But if we see a resurgence, I am sure some measures will be reinstated, so best to be prepared.
