Connexion time in Frankfurt & Frankfurt to Zagreb

I'm looking at a flight from the US to Pula in Croatia. The connection time in Frankfurt (going to Zagreb) is 2 hours 45 minutes. This is the 1st stop in the Schengen area so I imagine I will have to collect my luggage and go through passport control and maybe customs. Is 2 hours 45 minutes enough time for this? And I'm assuming Zagreb in Croatia is also in the Schengen area so I will not have to collect my luggage to go on from there. Does this sound right? This would be booked using United points/miles the entire way through to Pula.

You will go through passport control, but if this is on a single ticket you should not see your luggage in Frankfurt.

If Zagreb is your destination I'd really suggest that you collect your luggage when you arrive. Leaving it at the airport sounds like a bad idea to be honest.

The OP is going to Pula. So they will not see their luggage in Zagreb.

Its basically: Immigration at your point of entry. coming from the US no security needed. Then just board next plane. In Zagreb change planes (if on Croatian Airlines this might even be the same plane) and in Pula collect your luggage, and walk through the green channel at Customs. Unless you have something to declare, in which case you pick the red channel.

I read it too quick and missed that they are going to Pula. In that case, it's the same in Zagreb as in Frankfurt.

Croatian Airlines runs a lot of the flights to Pula and Zadar as a triangle. Planes fly Zagreb - Zadar - Pula - Zagreb, or the other way round. And often the flight is an extension of a flight from Zurich or Frankfurt. When I last flew from Zurich to Pula I in fact flew Zurich - Zagreb - Zadar - Pula all on the same plane, but we did have to leave and go through passport control in Zagreb as Croatia was not yet in Schengen. I wonder if people now can just stay on the plane.

Thanks everyone for your extremely helpful advice! What a relief that I don’t have to collect my bags. Thanks everyone for your extremely helpful advice! What a relief that I don’t have to collect my bags. Sorry for the delay in responding. I thought I had done that but evidently not! Now if I can just figure out a rental car…

Oh and any opinions regarding two hours 45 minutes connection time? My husband just had a knee replacement and is not moving very fast!
