Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am somewhat confused. I will be arriving to Munich and taking a connecting flight on the same ticket to Dresden. Will I need to recheck my bags in Munich? Will I go through security in Munich? Thank you!

Nope since you said you bought it as one ticket.
When you check-in your bag on the first flight, the claim check that the passenger agent will give you will have the final destination listed. The passenger agent will also say "your bag will go all the way to Dresden." Or you should ask them if they do not.
