Connecting flight FRA-CDG

My wife and I are booked on ANC-FRA flight on Condor and will be making a connecting flight to CDG on a different airline that will most likely not be a Condor partner. What can we expect in the way of the process and timing to retrieve our luggage, check-in for flight and go through security? We are seasoned travelers who usually have our bags checked through to our final destination. Alas, not this time. Any information is appreciated.

By reading this It sounds like you have one ticket. It is unclear: Did you buy separate tickets?
What is the name of the airline that you are connecting on? Who sold you your ticket or tickets?

Either way you have to go through passport control immigration in CDG and get stamped entering the Schengen zone.

Other way around. Kerry said:

So it is Frankfurt first. And they will have to go through immigration in Frankfurt as that is where they enter the Schengen Area; and presumably also pick up their bags and hand them in again at "different airline" check in. No immigration check Frankfurt to Paris, as both are inside the Schengen Area. However the airline will want to see their passports as in ID check.

Doesn't sound like one ticket to me.

(edited now that I see the flight actually goes to FRA first then CDG)

Need to clarify: is this all on one ticket? And how long do you have for the connection in FRA? FRA can be busy and take longer than you might expect...

Sounds like you are entering at FRA, so that is where you will get your passport stamped to enter Schengen, as well as go through customs when you collect your baggage, although it is really nothing more than exiting the "Nothing to Declare" door. I guess if it is a separate ticket, I'd be a little concerned. What happens if your Condor flight is late arriving? To be absolutely safe, I'd spend the night in Frankfurt. You could even take a direct ICE the next morning to Paris in under 4 hours. Considering the logistics of security, and getting from Paris airport into the city, could be a wash, time wise.

No need to stay in FRA, unless you miss your connecting flight.

How much time between your flights? Check the gates for the arriving Condor flights and other departing flight. If you have to change terminals, you will need to take the train, but if you are close to missing your connecting flight, you can ask security to move you up to the front of the line.

Condor uses Terminal 1. Luggage retrieval is quite slow there; 45 minutes after arrival would not be unusual. I would also consider spending some time in Frankfurt (which you can shorten in case of a delayed inbound flight), then taking the train from the centre either back to the airport or straight to Paris.

Thank you everyone for your comments and questions. I have confirmed with Condor and Lufthansa what I will need to do. To keep those who may wonder from being in suspense the tickets were purchased separately. I will need to retrieve luggage, go through passport control, check-in and clear security. Condor ANC-FRA flight scheduled to arrive at 1310. Lufthansa FRA-CDG flight is scheduled to depart at 1725. I expect the two itineraries will allow time for everything without too much worry or stress.
