Condor Airlines from Frankfurt to Portland

Anybody done this flight yet? Thinking about using miles award for Premium Economy to flight nonstop from Frankfurt to Portland in June. Looking for extra space in seats mostly, but wondering about food/beverage/entertainment having looked at a few reviews. What say you?

My sis in law has used them SEA-FRA ( prem econ) and had good comments. Liked them better than Iceland Air

I flew from Seattle to Frankfort on Condor in late September of this year. The flight was ok, but I had the following problems:

  1. The free movie selection had only two titles (Stupid Crazy Love and Rio). Everything else cost 9 euros to see, and these were somewhat old titles (eg Secret Life of Walter Mitty)

  2. They did provide dinner but it was mostly starch: two rolls with butter, a lasagna that looked like it had a meat sauce but turned out to be macaroni with rudimentary pasta sauce, and pudding. At least it's not an airline that charges for meals.

We just flew them in September. You can't really beat the price, but you get what you pay for. The food was terrible- bring your own. Entertainment fine. Beverage, same as all others. We had additional problems with them so we will not be flying with them again. But really, you can have problems on any airline.

I don't really care about the food or entertainment. (I travel with a bunch of videos on my phone and tablet.) I care most about the convenience and the price - and a direct flight to/from Europe with average food/entertainment beats superior food/entertainment with a connection hands down. Here in Portland, we don't have many direct flight options to Europe and this is one of them. So I'd definitely consider it. I have taken the Delta PDX-Amsterdam flight a number of times and prefer it when I can get it, but I can't use my Alaska miles anymore to get that flight as Alaska has ended their partnership with Delta. Alaska does partner with Condor, but the prices (in miles) still seem too high vs. other options. I used to be able to get the Delta PDX-AMS flight for 30K miles each way and only a small fee...

The Delta flights were actually fantastic (in plain-old coach) anyway - definitely better service than AA, which I will be taking next spring with miles. I'll have to endure a change in Chicago on the way home from Europe but for the price (20K miles) it's worth it. Perhaps I'll use my miles for Condor someday.

We flew RT PDX-FRA last June on Condor in Premium Economy. For the extra seat pitch, free baggage, and upgraded meals, we paid about what we would have paid on Delta or American for regular ol' economy. We thought it was a good value and recommend it. (Maybe Geor and Aly were in regular economy?!?) Have a great trip.

I haven't personally, but my work colleague used them this summer to fly to Switzerland. He's a tall guy so he upgraded to the Condor flight for better seat options at a lower price. He said the flights and amenities were about what you'd expect for an airline. The best part is getting to Europe directly, though personally I dislike Frankfurt airport as a hub (I'd rather go through Amsterdam on the Delta flight). BTW Delta is having a miles sale to Europe that ends today I believe, check to see if there are any PDX deals.
