Compare these two areas in Munich?

Hello- this is our first trip to Munich (actually to Germany as a whole). Thanks for all the advice I have gotten so far.

We will have five nights in Munich and will be taking our 5 year old daughter. We value convenience with transportation, and being close to things worth walking to (parks (playground for the little one), restaurants, sight seeing, and bier-gardens.

One apartment we found is right near the Isartor metro stop and the other is just north of Munich Residencies, on the same street at the hospital Klinik Josephinum.

Is there any major difference in these neighborhoods? We will be arriving at the main train station, and leaving via the airport. The Isartor location seems the easiest to get to the airport and from the train station, but the Munich Residence location seems to be closer to some parks, and easier bus access to some of the sights. But I obviously could be mistaken about this.

I might be splitting hairs as they are likely very similar, but just making sure I am not missing anything to big.

Thoughts?

cheers!

From my point of view, it doesn't make much difference. From the Josephinum Hospital you can quickly reach the English Garden, but it's a little further to the subway (at Odeonsplatz). And around Isartor there are more stores for everyday needs, whereas Ludwigsstraße is dominated by official buildings such as ministries and the Bavarian State Library.

Of the two, I suggest the apartment near the Residenz because your are close to the Hofgarten. There is lots of room for your daughter to play, but no children's playground. To the best of my memory the closest playgrounds are going to be in either the Botanical Garden or the English Garden.
