Cold Temps

At least in my corner of Bavaria, it's been cold the last two weeks with rain almost every day. I don't think we have gone above 72F these weeks. High today was @57F with rain showers. There was some snow on the Zugspitze and higher elevations in Austria the last few days. I'm in no hurry to return to 90F/33C temps, but I would like to have some summer. Next week's forecast is looking better with temps into the 80Fs and less rain. June was much better weatherwise. Had jackets and sweaters on for a Summer Fest this past Saturday!

Yes, early June was really nice! Could be worse, we have a heat wave here in the southwest US for over a month and there are still at least 2 more weeks forecasts of +100F. A jacket sounds pretty nice right now.

Cold? What you described as “cold” sounds like paradise. I hate the heat of summer & 72° sounds ideal. Rain delivers greenery! Plus there’s no need for air conditioning with comfortable temps like that. I prefer an umbrella to temperatures higher than the 80s! 80s to me aren’t better. Enjoy the rest of your time in Bavaria and Austria!!

Cold is not a word used in the Land of La. 11:15 am. It’s 81 outside. High of 88 predicted. Sunny SoCal.

Have been wearing a jacket and carrying an umbrella almost every day the past 2 weeks here in Frankfurt. Windy, rainy, chilly are not words we usually use for August. It feels and looks like autumn, almost Novemberish.
The festivals are suffering from this, and the kids on summer vacation are too. The farmers are losing their harvests from too much rain. Still better than the heat in most of the world.

Only two weeks? We have had this weather for longer here in Hamburg, and I am LOVING it after the heat of the last few summers.

It has been very cloudy with rain nearly every day in Riga over the last two weeks. Not always heavy rain, but enough that a prudent person would carry a rain jacket and an umbrella every day. It hasn't been cold, though, for which I am grateful. I think it hit 31 or 32 C (88-90 F) on Sunday. No rain that day, but unpleasant in a different way. Otherwise temperatures have been wonderful for tourist activities.

Amazing how fast things change. I was in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in mid-July. I kept hearing complaints about heat in Munich, but things were very comfortable - warm but not crazy hot (and mostly very sunny) in the Alps.

It’s 84 Fahrenheit in Kirkenes, Norway deep in the Arctic circle on the Barents Sea today. The reindeer are having heatstroke. It’s a topsy turvy world.

I spoke with a friend in Oberpfalz today and he had to turn the furnace on at his house!
