Cochem to Boppard travel

Need help on best way to travel from Cochem to Boppard. We will be staying in Cochem for four days (Oct. 1-4), and would like to go to Boppard on Friday, 10/3 to do the Sessellift chairlift ride to the mountain top in the morning, then visit the Wine Festival that afternoon (festival starts at 2pm). Am I correct that it would take way too long to make this journey via boat? Is it easier to take the train? Is the train station in Boppard close to the wine festival location? Can you provide a link to the train timetable? Appreciate the help!
