We'll be arriving in Nuremberg late on a Tuesday, and will be leaving for Brussels on Friday morning. I'll be doing some genealogical research at the Lutheran Church Archives. While I'm at the archives, my wife wants to explore the city and do some shopping. Are the outdoor city markets open on weekdays?
The Haupmarkt, as the name implies, usually hosts a market unless there's a special event going on. Immediately to the south, many of the streets make up a pedestrian-only shopping district. In addition to the stores (both high end and low), there's also a smattering of stalls, selling stuff like produce, grilled meats, cheeses and gingerbread.
I've seen few single square kilometers of territory on earth that seem to have such a high density of ice cream cafes.
There's at least one other market in the outer residential districts of the city that I know of. No special reason to go out of your way for it, though.
