We are traveling by car to Luxembourg and Rothenburg December 19-27 looking for suggestions on hotels and places to see. Very interested in Christmas markets. We prefer self catering but open to not having that.

Just be aware that most Christmas markets close by the 22nd or 23rd, some even on the 21st. Germany kind of shuts down in the afternoon of the 24th and the 25th and 26th are official holidays.

We stayed at www.froehlich-rothenburg.de in Dec. 2011. nice fewo, 1-2 blocks from the main square and Christmas market.
