Hello! Looking for information on:
Attending a Protestant Christmas Eve service in Munich;
Where a large party (13 total) can eat dinner on Christmas Eve in Munich;
Where same large party can eat dinner on Christmas Day in Munich?
Reservations required?
Any other helpful tips for our Christmas visit?
Thank you!
Dec 24, 25, and 26 are national holidays. Your biggest problem is going to be finding a place to eat. Get the Open Table and The Fork apps and start looking now! Many places are already booked. Don't bother with Google or Trip Advisor, or anything like that. If the place is going to be open on the holidays, they have already posted the hours and, in many cases, the menu.
Seriously recommend you ask your hotel concierge if they have suggestions and have them make the reservations.
Bayern is primarily catholic, but St Peter's in Munich is Protestant. Here's a link to their scheduled services. https://alterpeter.de/gottesdienste/
On December 24, the stores are open until around 1 pm. After that, the streets empty out. Christmas is typically celebrated at home with the family.
For such a large group, you definitely need to book as soon as possible. As KGC suggested, search online for open restaurants but then I would book by phone or email.
Many restaurants and most museums are closed on the 24th and 25th. Dec 26th is also a holiday but many museums and even more restaurants are open again.
St. Peter's in Munich is Catholic.
The closest Protestant churches to the city center are St. Matthäus Kirche near Sendlinger Tor (https://www.stmatthaeus.de/) and St. Markus, a 5-minute walk from Odeonsplatz (https://www.markuskirche-muenchen.de/).
There will be several services in the afternoon and evening.
We will be in Munich for Christmas, too. There are six of us. I got a Christmas dinner reservation about a week ago at Andechser am Dom. Right in the Altstadt. Good reputation. Phenomenal beer! Try getting a reservation for 6 and one for 7. That might work. Many beer hall places are open Christmas night., too.
Good luck!

Do they have a special menu for Christmas? Looks good and we may go, as well!
I did not see anything about a special Christmas menu on their website. But I’ll check again as we get closer to Christmas.
Thanks all for the great recommendations! We were able to get a reservation for all of us at an Italian restaurant for Christmas Eve!
Can you share the name?
