Cheese & Chocolate in Bavaria

Any suggestions we will be staying a week in Schliersee
and a week in Landshut, Germany. Will go to Fussen, Rothenburg,
Munich, and Burghausen, and areas near or north of Salzburg.

Any places worthwhile to see Cheese made/sample and/or chocolate? I realize
this may not be the best region to find this sort of thing.

Thanks!
TC

Well I'm not sure if this qualifies as chocolate-making but Munich's Kaufhof Galerie department store (at the Marienplatz) has in its basement, the biggest selection of chocolate goodies I've ever seen. It's literally a chocolate wonderland. We've also watched a Lindt chocolatier demonstrating his chocolate dipping skills there. Fun!

look up Ammergauer cheese or something like that. I think there is a tourable cheese making operation in Ettal. At least there was 6 years ago. It is near Garmisch and Oberammergau as I recall.

If you go to Nürnberg, try the local Lebkuchen (gingerbread).
